Summer Games 2026

Our travelers have been working very hard all season to get ready for the Special Olympics in two states. This month we had athletes from New York and New Jersey competing in four different sports in their Special Olympics Summer Games. (Tennis, Basketball, track & field and swimming). There may have been more, but these are the only athletes (travelers) that notified me.

In Special Olympic New Jersey, Joey won a Gold medal in tennis for the second year in a row. Ben brought home a silver medal in tennis and Robert with the bronze in tennis as well. For the ladies, Jessica came home with 5th & 6th place ribbons in track & field for our New Jersey travelers/athletes.

In Special Olympic New York, Aaron competed in basketball skills and shined on the court like the Knick with his dribbling and shooting skills to win a silver medal at the games. In the swimming pool, Abraham was competing in the men’s 15 meter backstroke to swim laps round his competition to bring home the gold medal.

World’s largest Sensory Swim (2nd Year)

On June 25, a couple of travelers went to the World’s largest sensory-friendly swim lesson at the Funplex family Amusement Park in East Hanover in New Jersey. The travelers had a private 30 minute lesson with a Five Star Swim School teacher.

After the event, the travelers enjoyed some of the water activities at the Funplex waterpark before heading home. It was a wonderful event and all travelers had a great day. Highlight Vacations was there to promote the event and our club. See you next year!
