It’s been a busy year for us here at Highlight Vacations. We have opened our doors to welcome you all back with two great summer trips. This year we explored Canada and Niagara Falls. In July, the group finally were able to go to Montreal and the Holland American Cruise that was booked before the pandemic. The first part of the week we explored Montreal, seeing the observation wheel, Olympic Park, Biodome and more. We did a lot of walking that week averaging 9 to 10 miles a day. We had very tired travelers by the end of the day. Then the two-week travelers joined us for the cruise portion of the trip. Most of the travelers will tell you that this was not their typical cruise they usually take and that is true. Most of our travelers are used to having a lot of activities to do, but this was more of a laid-back relaxed, have a drink at the bar type of cruise. (Not a party cruise which is what our traveler likes) So, I’m sorry for that and I will make sure that it will not happen in the future. The nice thing about the cruise was that we were in port almost every day, so we did a lot of sightseeing. We made stops in Quebec City, Charlottetown, Sydney, Nova Scotia & Halifax, Nova Scotia, & Bar Harbor, Maine. On the one day at sea, most of the group participated in a charitable activity on the ship. It was fun and great exercise!

Our second trip was to Niagara Fall on the US side. This was a beautiful trip in so many ways. It started with a stop at Watkins Glen State Park in upstate NY, the path was wet, but it was amazing! There are so many waterfalls and tunnels, it was a sight to see. It’s a most stop if you are ever in the area. Next stop, Niagara Falls! This was a wet trip. The next day we woke up to rain, but that was okay because we were heading to the Cave of the Winds and the Maid of the Mist boat ride. We were going to be wet anyway, very wet! The next day the weather was beautiful, and we headed to Old Niagara Fort to explore the history of this fort that is still in use. The group had the opportunity to ride on one of the oldest carousels in NYS at the Herschel Carrousel factory museum. It was fun seeing everyone riding the carrousel. One of the highlights of the trip was not on the itinerary, it was the light show and fireworks at the Falls each night. Our hotel was only a 10-minute walk from the falls, so every night at 9 pm the group would walk down to the waterfalls for the light show and at 10 pm the fireworks would start. It was a wonderful bonus to the trip.
